It's so hard to get a good picture but this is the best I could get.
I found a fun blog challenge: What's on your windowsill?
Thought I would share what I have.
First, I have to hang most of my plants because I have cats that love to eat anything green.
I tried to spray hot pepper & garlic water on them (which was suggested by another blog- I think Martha) but it only made them eat the plants more??? Weird!
The super tall plant is my Mother-of-Thousands
My sister gave me a baby one when she found it at a flea market with her mother-in-law.
Well, let me tell you- it really is a mother of thousands.
Along the edge of each leaf
tiny plantlets grow
& when they drop they start the whole process all over again.
I read they can even grow in a carpet.
Of course they are succulents.
So the only way to really kill this one is to overwater {right Mom?}.
It thrives on dry soil. A really great & easy houseplant if you ask me.
I have a Jade plant that I've had for about a year.
It too, grows better with very little water.
When I repotted everything not long ago I added my own compost
& that's how I ended up with a tomato &
{I think} pepper plant in the middle of March.
I am hoping they continue to do well so I can add them to my garden.
I have to put them in the hanging pots so the cats don't eat them as well.
The top left hanging basket is my Camellia sinensis.
I have just started to learn more about this plant & hope to someday get it big enough
to harvest my own tea.
I would greatly appreciate any tips from gardeners growing their own tea.
I really want it to do well & I know that living in Zone 5 isn't the best place for it...
I'd love to see what you have growing on your windowsill!
